At first, it might seem that a black room would be overwhelming, but the all black interiors trend proves that, just like white, black can function as a blank canvas, welcoming creativity, style and, why not, color.
But you might take your time to do some research about this trend before starting your renovation. Since it’s not a easy style to follow, the tips can save you time and money.
Choose between matte and gloss
If your space is full of light, you will want to go with matte style paint. On the other hand, glossy paint can work very well in darker rooms, giving it a little bit of shine. If that’s the case, bear in mind that this kind of paint pairs very well with metal accessories.
2. Invest in different textures
To make your all-black room dynamic, choose different textures in black: tiles, painted wood or bricks and even the rugs and curtains can help composing the scenario. Remember: it doesn’t have to be boring because it’s all black.
3. Create a point of light
It could be the wood, the sink, accessories or a black-and-white pattern – a little bit of light will make the back stand out even more.
If you liked the idea and want to build your own all-black kitchen or bathroom, you can contact or visit us on 1854 West 4th Ave., Vancouver, BC. Our specialists will be happy to help you!

When it comes to upgrading your kitchen, choosing the right kitchen cabinets is one of the most important decisions you’re going to have to make. You need to think about a whole load of factors like finish, colour, material, shape and storage space especially. Is a lot of storage space important to you? Or can you manage with less. Would you like clear glass cabinets, acrylic or wood? Do you want a gloss finish or matte? These are all questions you’re going to have to think about before you beginning your journey to choosing the perfect kitchen cabinets.
Choose the perfect kitchen cabinets door style first
Cabinet doors take over a kitchen. They require the most surface area, and your eye sees them as a whole, so style is incredibly important. Do you want arches, grooves and carved details in wooden doors, or simple and minimalist acrylic slabs? Work around the style of your kitchen – it all starts with the cabinets.
Choose your colour
If you have a smaller kitchen, white would look much better and open up the space. If you have a bigger kitchen, darker colours and wood finishes can look very ornate and classic, or minimalist and sleek, if those are the looks you are going for.
Take into account function and beauty
Do you prefer drawers or shelves? Think about beauty, function, and how you’re going to combine the two. For example, you may prefer to have more drawers than shelves, or vice versa. In addition, there is some very interesting options you can add like pantry pull out shelving, and corner cabinets to maximize space and functionality.

Cleaning your kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities can be time-consuming and exhausting. Cabinets cleaning techniques are the same whether you are working on the kitchen cabinets or bathroom vanities. However, with some cleaning hacks, you will be able to save some time and energy. Kitchen cabinets, for example, face constant challenges from dirt, grease, bacteria, and fingerprints. Therefore, kitchen and bathroom should be the main focus of your cleaning routine as they are under the highest exposure to bacteria growth.
Supplies that you need:
Cleaner of your choice or Vinegar – Vinegar has grease-busting, cleaning ability. Dampen a clean, dry cloth with undiluted white vinegar, and wipe down greasy cabinets. Rinse your cloth with warm water, wring out most of the moisture, and use it to rinse the cabinetry.
What about bathroom cabinets?
The insides of bathroom cabinets can be warm and moist, which makes them an ideal place for mold to grow. Even if you don’t see mold growing, it is still a good idea to fill a spray bottle with bleach or vinegar and spray down the entire area because it will kill mold spores that might become a problem later.
How often should you clean kitchen cabinets?
Grease from cooking, condensation from temperature changes and steam, dirt and bacteria from hands and food can stain and damage cabinet exteriors. Depending on how often you cook, some cabinets should be wiped down after every use while some can do a weekly cleaning. However, you should do a deep cleaning every other week in case the grease starts to build up. Buildup is a combination of grease and dust that get be quite thick and hard as time goes by.

Refinishing kitchen cabinets can be such a great way to refresh your outdated kitchen. It’s a much cheaper option than going for a full renovation, less time consuming, and can make you feel like you have a brand new kitchen. You can play around with the wood stains and finishes to achieve a stylish and modern look that fits in with the rest of your home.
Sand Down the Surface
You’re going to begin by prepping the cabinet’s surface by sanding it down to allow for the stain to have something to grab on to. At this step you are taking the cabinets back to their original, pre-stained finish.
Prime & Paint
Now, you are going to prime the surface with your choice of primer, if you are choosing to paint. If you are choosing to stain, you can skip this step. By priming first, you allow the true colour of your paint to shine through in a smooth and even manner. Another way to achieve the best results possible would be to use spray paint instead of a brush.
At this step, ensure you are painting in thin, even layers rather than thick heavy layers as they tend to dry unevenly.
Make sure to apply the paint in one-directional strokes
Use a high quality brush that will not absorb product and apply the pain evenly without streaking
Oil based paints are much easier to apply smoothly, while paints based on latex tend to leave streaking
Use a rag or old piece of cloth to work the stain into the wood grain/pores when refinishing kitchen cabinets.
Start by using 120-grit sandpaper for the first sanding of the cabinets, then follow it by using 220-grit sandpaper.
By following these steps and tips, you can achieve a refreshed kitchen in no-time. DIY projects can be cheap, a fun project to do with family and friends and not to mention authentic. They can breathe life back into your old, dull kitchen.
