At first, it might seem that a black room would be overwhelming, but the all black interiors trend proves that, just like white, black can function as a blank canvas, welcoming creativity, style and, why not, color.
But you might take your time to do some research about this trend before starting your renovation. Since it’s not a easy style to follow, the tips can save you time and money.
Choose between matte and gloss
If your space is full of light, you will want to go with matte style paint. On the other hand, glossy paint can work very well in darker rooms, giving it a little bit of shine. If that’s the case, bear in mind that this kind of paint pairs very well with metal accessories.
2. Invest in different textures
To make your all-black room dynamic, choose different textures in black: tiles, painted wood or bricks and even the rugs and curtains can help composing the scenario. Remember: it doesn’t have to be boring because it’s all black.
3. Create a point of light
It could be the wood, the sink, accessories or a black-and-white pattern – a little bit of light will make the back stand out even more.
If you liked the idea and want to build your own all-black kitchen or bathroom, you can contact or visit us on 1854 West 4th Ave., Vancouver, BC. Our specialists will be happy to help you!

A kitchen renovation project can sometimes have you stressed and pulling your hair out by the end, but it doesn’t have to be that way. With careful planning, consideration and making room for backup plans, you can avoid big problems which will only prolong the renovation even more. Here are our top tips for solidifying an efficient plan.
Plan ahead, sooner than you think
Planning ahead for your kitchen renovation can include selecting products and appliances, picking colours or finding a good, experienced and highly-rated contractor. This can mentally prepare you for the price range of the products you will be choosing, thus, keeping you on budget. You will know where to go for the best prices, and highest quality products.
Communication, communication, communication!
Communicating effectively with your kitchen renovation team can make all the difference when undergoing a project like this. Be honest, always tell them what you want, and if you notice something you don’t like, share it with the contractor right away. Sooner is always better than later, when it may be too late to make the necessary change.
Find quality help
When looking for contractors or remodellers, make sure they have a sufficient amount of experience, as well as all of the proper legal credentials, and are a part of remodelling/contractor associations. In addition, make sure to thoroughly read through the contract and research the contractors you are getting into work with.
Start your budget early, so that when changes do come, you are prepared and ready to take acton! This can mean something as little as shipping costs, to appliance damage.
Planning ahead on your renovation project is so important, and can really make a world of a difference in how everything pans out. Make sure to contact us if you are looking for efficient, knowledgable and experienced remodellers.
Refinishing kitchen cabinets can be such a great way to refresh your outdated kitchen. It’s a much cheaper option than going for a full renovation, less time consuming, and can make you feel like you have a brand new kitchen. You can play around with the wood stains and finishes to achieve a stylish and modern look that fits in with the rest of your home.
Sand Down the Surface
You’re going to begin by prepping the cabinet’s surface by sanding it down to allow for the stain to have something to grab on to. At this step you are taking the cabinets back to their original, pre-stained finish.
Prime & Paint
Now, you are going to prime the surface with your choice of primer, if you are choosing to paint. If you are choosing to stain, you can skip this step. By priming first, you allow the true colour of your paint to shine through in a smooth and even manner. Another way to achieve the best results possible would be to use spray paint instead of a brush.
At this step, ensure you are painting in thin, even layers rather than thick heavy layers as they tend to dry unevenly.
Make sure to apply the paint in one-directional strokes
Use a high quality brush that will not absorb product and apply the pain evenly without streaking
Oil based paints are much easier to apply smoothly, while paints based on latex tend to leave streaking
Use a rag or old piece of cloth to work the stain into the wood grain/pores when refinishing kitchen cabinets.
Start by using 120-grit sandpaper for the first sanding of the cabinets, then follow it by using 220-grit sandpaper.
By following these steps and tips, you can achieve a refreshed kitchen in no-time. DIY projects can be cheap, a fun project to do with family and friends and not to mention authentic. They can breathe life back into your old, dull kitchen. It’s easy to lose track of what’s important when doing a kitchen remodelling. Sometimes you forget a small detail that is easy to fix later. Sometimes you discover that there’s something that should be done earlier. To help you plan ahead and make the most of your new kitchen project, we decided to give you a brief list of “do’s and don’ts” of kitchen remodelling. Be ready for your project before it happens!
Do’s and Don’ts of kitchen remodelling
Do – Think about your needs. You need to plan around your space and what exactly you are going to need in your new kitchen. Experiment using your current kitchen and think: what would you do different that could make the current experience better?
Don’t – Make it up on the go. Without proper planning, your kitchen remodelling can end up being more expensive than necessary. Not only that, you may actually find yourself with more problems than solutions, like having a counter top custom made and changing your mind about it later.
Do – Hire professionals to help you do the job. Even if you like do-it-yourself projects, there are some parts of the renovation that will require professional expertise. Be honest about your own abilities. When in doubt, call a pro.
Don’t – Think that the budget it written in stone. It’s always wise to budget your kitchen remodelling for more than the estimate. Usually between 15 and 20% more. Be prepared and avoid unnecessary pauses on the project.
Do – Keep everything organized. Phone numbers of stores and contractors, reference numbers of previous orders and everything related to your project, like deadlines. You need to be able to find the information as needed.
Don’t – Overspend. A good-looking kitchen can increase the value of your home, but it needs to reflect the reality of the house itself. If you spend way too much on your kitchen remodelling, you may not see much this investment again if you decide to sell the property later.
Do – Pay attention to the trends. Design changes, and we change with it. Pay attention to what’s new about kitchen design. It’s not only important for aesthetics, but design can also change usability and redefine the overall experience of using a kitchen.
Don’t – Go against the house’s style. Every home is designed with a style in mind. Sometimes you can transform it over the years and make it more modern. Sometimes you can’t. A great kitchen needs to look good, but also needs to fit in the space where it exists.
Do – Buy high-quality products. Even if your budget is tight, buy the best products you can. Remember that kitchens are used daily, so everything that’s in there needs to stand for a good amount of time. Bad quality cabinets, for example, will have to replaced sooner, and you can end up spending more money.
